You don’t understand me part 1

From my last blog I stated that Aggie women fear being though feminist because Aggie men fear feminists and I thought to myself, why exactly is this? I know fear of feminism is greater in the South (more traditionalist) than in the North or along the Coasts, so that’s an interesting geographical and therefore cultural difference, but overall, what is it in our society, that makes men feel as though they HAVE to be superior?

I know that the composition of men and women’s brains are different, I can’t delve into all the medical reasons off the top of my head, but I do recall reading that men have more gray matter (which is supposed to constitute intelligence as it relays sensory information throughout the body and people who have a higher density of gray area in certain sections of their brain are usually more skilled or intelligent in something) and they use the left hemisphere of their brains more, meaning they are more task-orientated when problem solving.  Women on the other hand have quite a bit more white matter (which connects portions of gray matter together and controls the speed of communication – so the gray matter collects signals and the white matter sends it off) and since they have better connections between the left and right hemispheres of the brain, they are more creative and better at understanding emotions while communicating

During stress our brains release the hormone oxytocin but the testosterone in men reduces the effects of it, leading men to deal with stress in ‘fight or flight’ mode.

Men usually only process language in their dominant hemisphere which is why women often are better at language related thinking.

Women have a larger deep limbic system, allowing us to understand and express our feelings better, though it means we have a greater tendency for depression and shifts in mood during changes in our hormones.

There are more differences but I’m not going to explain all of them, the link above goes into a little more depth…This might explain why men behave a certain way, which explains why men and women are different/interact with each other in certain situation and react to certain stimuli in certain ways, but it still doesn’t give an explanation to WHY men might fear feminists (and the idea that women should be treated equally) because perhaps it has to do with the nurturing aspect of it.
